Then, there are unfortunate people who have no animal, or are animals of mite. They are seen as scum, and typically are homeless and do farm work. Eliza has grown up with people with no animal, as it ran in her family. She would be expected to have no animal too, and take whatever punishments or cruelties posed on them by the royal class. That was what she had expected and prepared for, having already dealt with Prince Henry and living with a scar. That was until, on her sixteenth birthday, the ceremony begins.
