Of course the dark lord would know, he was there when Amelia Potter helped her brother defeat him. Which resulted in a lightning shaped scar on the back of her hand. But alas she was separated from her brother and put in an orphanage to increase her chance of survival, that would change thought when she goes to Hogwarts though.
