"Taylor I don't know what this is, you know between us... it's scary but exciting. I feel alive again." I stare at this hole in my closet wall wishing I could see her face to face. We always talk freely when we get together in person. But when we rely on this hole, it's limited. Gavin could burst in at any moment.
"I- we should-", I sigh and rest my head aginst the wall next to the hole. I know she is looking for a reply but what can I say? 'Lyric leave your husband and be with me!' That sounds like a mess. "This thing between us that you speak of, how does it make you feel when I'm not around Lyric?"
"Sad, I guess. Until now, I haven't had a friend as nice as you. We laugh, we play, we talk about everything. You give me so much of your time, I'm sure it's hard to have a love life right? You never talk about that with me. Why not?"
My body sags and leans on the wall, "Lyric, there's nobody I would rather spend my time with, honestly." The words hung in the air... they just sat there. Maybe I wouldn't be so terrified if I could just see her reaction but all I am getting is silence.
"I bet, you just like the free chocolate chip cookies." She jokes playfully to ease the tension I guess so I laugh along with her.
"Yeah they are pretty good. Lyric I have a question but I don't know how to ask so I wrote it down. Can I pass it to you?"
"Yeah sure." Her voice came through small and timid. I grabbed the scrap of paper with the question scribbled on it. "Can I read it out loud?"
"Umm sure..." I pushed it through and held my breath. I couldn't help but a release a childish giggle. Here I was, a grown woman, writing a grade school note.
I could hear her grab the paper and unfold it. "Do you like me? Check yes or no."
