In this universe couples simply do not conceive their own children. Here they purchase them. Children are judged at birth at what category they 'belong' in. You are either a 100, 200, 300, etc. 500 is the highest ranking. 500s are seen as the most physically appealing and smartest children. They grow up in a room full of new books, clothes, and school supplies. they have it all. 100s have the least. They rarely have any books, all their clothes have holes and none of the toys are in good shape. 200s, 300s, and 400s are in between. 

Sam is a 100. He feels left out and he doesn't understand why he's a 100. He feels all kids should grow up in the same environment. Here is Sam's story as he grows up with his best friends Trevor and Maria.All Rights Reserved

You create fun memories, find the love of your life, get married, start a family, grow old, and eventually, you breathe your last. That's what life was supposed to be like for me. But instead, my life turned out to be the opposite of normal. And so it was for Chiara, Blake, Jake, Rowan, Nova, and Dijon. To tell our story, we need to go all the way back to the beginning. Before we were even born. It all started 30 years ago. April 5, 2003. a class got into an accident and when the survivors woke up, they realized something was wrong. they got powers , they got taken by scientist who started calling them the hollows. It took almost a month before they were rescued by Mr. Knight, they got taken to a secret place where they could live peacefully. that's a lie, one of the students wanted revenge and not stay hidden, so the group seperated. Every year another person got powers, and so, the search continued. But there was always one question on mr. Knight mind: Why 12 children the first time, and only one per year after that? And one thing was for sure: whenever someone gained powers, they had to give something up in return. It was never a choice. It was just the way it was. So, now that I've explained a bit about how this all started, let's fast forward to the present. It's now 2033. Mr. Knight has found 19 children, and Mr. Douglas, the leader of the other group, has found 10. That means... the 30th child is out there somewhere. Who will it be? And one more thing before I go-welcome to the world of Dark Light.

Before the fall of Earth humanity built a great colony ship, ten thousand of the colonist left Earth for a hundred year journey to Gillespie. They came from all over the Earth leaving a planet knowing they would never see another in their lifetime. The Ark is a rotating cylinder the size of a large island with its own train system. It's divided into three main sections, the city, the framlands, and the Lowers. The people are divided into three groups as well, Uppers, Middles and Lowers. Uppers are made of elite scientist, Astro-crops, bureaucrats they made up about 3% of the population. The Middles are are the farmers, the guard, teachers, doctors, the food processors, clothes makers and of course the mechanical maintenance workers. They make-up the 97% of the 10,000 counted citizens. The lowers are criminals and children born to un-paired parents. They live separated from the middles and Upper. In lowers you work in water reclamation or in one of the fish farms that supply protein to the ship. In the year 2149 Dylan De Rovia is trying to wrap her head around the idea that in two year's she'll be paired. That they call marriage on the Ark. Pairing is good most who are paired do end-up staying together because while genetics play good part in determining a match so does personality. Some people choose to use spend this time having a good time with as many partners as possible. Dylan however, vowed that she would never fall in love with anyone before pairing. The universe had other plans however, when Dylan learns that she'll pair with an Upper named Kyive Sinclar life gets more complicated than ever. Falling in love is hard enough falling in love in space that the story.

. About 50 years ago, society began accepting regression. More research was done, and tests were then created and perfected to identify regressors and possible caregivers, along with matching them up and creating places spesifically for them. Daycares, playgrounds, hospital units. Everything was safe and accepting, from a legal standpoint at least. Jake was a regular college student. He played soccer, he went to his classes, he partied every other weekend, and he shared his dorm with his best friend, Mason. They both took the test at once, knowing what they'd likely be, but.. they weren't correct. Or even close. Now Jake's stuck with 3 caregivers, struggling to accept that he's a regressor, and having to adjust to his entire life changing in front of him without him having much of a say in it. At least he can still go into engineering like he wanted, right? Or is that being taken away from him too?
