Dragon fire, bright gold, casts rainbows instead of shadows.

Camry was gifted with the power of fire by the dragon that saved her life as a child. She hides her gift from the world for fear of what they would do to her should they discover it. Her secrets and lies make her the prime suspect in the murder of Yarrow Norcross, the man who owns the cottage she rented for, what should have been, a peaceful vacation in the mountains.

Agent John Ashley has been fighting against the dragon scourge on humanity for years. Hardened and disillusioned from his time in service, the seemingly innocent Camry is a breath of fresh air. However, there are secrets behind her dark eyes. He can't believe that she was the one who killed Norcross. Nor can he believe that she's involved in dragon poaching, obstruction of justice, or any of the host of crimes being laid at her feet.

Summitville was once a quiet mountain town. Now, a hotspot for murder, discord, and frequent dragon attacks. In such a tumultuous environment, can Camry still keep her secrets? Can she protect her heart from the trained dragon fighter? Or will she become another victim to the lies and deception that run rampant through this seemingly peaceful town?

Fly fishing was something that her late husband, Harry Pell, loved to do. When Hadley's friend, Hobie Stricker, invites her to try for the Big One, she only has trout in mind. A dead body brings a lot of unwanted attention and a lot of unanswered questions, too. Her brother-in-law, Sheriff Bill Whittaker has sworn Hadley to secrecy. The newly elected mayor of Hope Rock County is giving the good sheriff a fit. There are rumors that he wants to clean house, especially at the local law enforcement's office. How can you not trust your younger sister with all that you know? How do you keep the peace in the family and keep Bill's trust? It seems you can't. At least, not without one big sister fight. To mend family fences and help heal Maury's hurt feelings, Hadley decides to take her little sister on a road trip. But this is not just any road trip. Hadley makes reservations at the VistaView Motor Court, a revamped and renovated resort built in the 1920s. She visits her local beauty shop for a trim before heading off, but when Lou Edna, proprietor of the Beauty Boutique, hears that she and Maury are planning to hightail it out of town, the beautician insists she must accompany the pair. It's going to take a lot of fast talking to smooth this out with Maury. There is mystery surrounding the VistaView, and it's been decades in the making. The answers are there, but will Hadley be clever enough to pick up on the clues? Will she live to tell what she has uncovered? Will they lock her away in an insane asylum if she does? Randomly receiving a piece of parchment with a road-map and an "X" to mark the spot, Landry has travelled for so long that even his boots gave up. His journey brought him to Pollard's Grove, a generally unknown and quiet lumber village on the outskirts of the Wyrmwood, a densely packed forest with gargantuan trees at the centre of Lake Laga. There, he meets a friend he hasn't seen in years, a black-haired elf by the name of Maliah who is uncharacteristically concerned as to why she summoned him. With magical threads of light, how far could the story lead beyond the Grove? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The story takes place within my world, called Aurum. The known world is split into two continents, the 'Twin Continents.' The West Continent is home to Cleonth, Zalafold, The Northern Kingdoms and the remnants of Larune. The East Continent is made up of Elduira, Zanokar, Adraskia, The Huinan Empire and more. (Names may change.) The sea that separates the two is known as the Meridean Sea, and none can leave the Twins and return due to the surrounding boundless oceans, known as the Vast Blue. Many thanks to my friends Imp, Zero and Morgz for their invaluable feedback :)
