When Ash is locked away for copulating with a demon, Sebastian, left to raise their daughter by himself, assumes the angel is dead. Until. Ragged feathers and all, Ash is thrusted back into Sebastian's life with barely his own. (this isn't in the story it is just a  slight explanation.)
