The year is 2786, and the world as we knew it is gone. Replaced with a barren waste land and below livable oxygen levels, the Earth is no longer capable of supporting life. The human race rarely gives up though. Before the planet completely gave up on them, they found a way to survive. The built cities that not only maintained a breathable atmosphere, but also moved across the Earth’s surface. In order to avoid the scorching hot temperatures of the day and the thousands of degrees below freezing temperatures of the night, the cities must move in the twilight line. The twilight line is the only place with enough balance to keep from melting or freezing the city. If the dome cities were to ever stop moving, the human race would become extinct. Laney Hostetler is a senior in high school, the daughter of an earl, and the daughter of the traitor Emma Hostetler. Growing up was rough, but now that she has her two best friends, Nate and Josie, it’s not so hard. That is, until her father decides they are moving. Forced away from her only friends into a dome filled with other nobles, Laney starts to wonder why there are nobles in the first place. When she starts asking questions, she finds answers that she doesn’t like.
