In the world of Anima, there is common gloominess in which everyone can get exposed to for a reason unknown. The awful monsters of scath are such creatures that thrive in ensuring the gloomy nature is instilled in humans and generations to come.

The insurgent, a marking of such a title to the world means you are tainted and easy targets to the scath. Insurgents are depicted as the only ones who, no matter how hard they try, cannot follow the same constant depressing nature. And so, insurgents are sentenced by matriarchs or patriarchs of a village or city to be hunted an executed in order to keep the scath at bay.

After being forced into exile, a brave bunch of insurgents will work together to restore order to the world so they won't have to live in hatred by the world any longer.
