After the war a lot of individuals found themselves displaced and in need of something to do in life, this included taking their recently developed skills and turning them into something more lucrative. Lucille Solomons, sister of Alfie though no longer fond of each other, finds herself in need of a job after the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service is no longer in need of her service and the factories of Birmingham provide her with new patients.

Billy Kimber plans to reach out his greedy arms and increase his deals within the racing industry, he commands bookies and his gang keeps others in check. Alfie Solomons regards this as a challenge and seeks out the help of some Brummie contacts.
