The King and Queen had to move away from China when Marinette, their daughter, was born because of other duties that they had to do in Paris. 14 years later, Tom and Sabine drop the Princess bomb on Marinette and they have to leave to go to China to let them know that their daughter will be returning and will be the next Queen in line. Meanwhile, Marinette has to come to terms that the person she's admired and her occasionally irritating but trustworthy partner, are one in the same, all while reeling from visits from a certain cat she's grown particularly fond of.
