Problems and Solutions

Black Rose is a student at Shadow High School. She's your typical nerd/goth chick. She goes through day after day of pushing, shoving, name calling, beating, and stealing from her peers at the school. At home her dad is almost never there because he is in the army and her mom died when she was little. She had twin brother and sister who died at birth and an adopted sister Tawny.

Flame Spark is the biggest guy at Shadow High School and football captain. The whole school loves him including the teachers. He's always found it particularly amusing to pick on Black, the girl who sits in the back of class with her books and chokers listening to the teacher with a single ear bud in. At home, things change. His almost constantly drunk dad is abusive and his mother is helpless. He's afraid of her getting hurt because he can't stand up to his biggest fear, his father. He shares a room with his eight year old sister Squirrel and she almost never leaves the room, only for classes at Shadow Lower Elementary.

Spider Leap is a cross country runner at Shadow High School. He's friends with pretty much everyone and is almost always gone for races. His mom died and his dad took off so he lives with his aunt who is always shut up in her room, mourning his dead uncle. Sometimes he can hear her talking to him. He practically raises his little brother Night. He does good in school and has a massive crush on the Student Body President Soot.

Soot is the friendly Student Body President. She knows everyone and makes a point to talk to them and goes out of her way to be nice. She is in every club at school, debate, academic team, Student council, or any other club you could think of. Her closest friend is Black and she has often tried to get her to try out for the academic team or debate. Her parents expect a lot out of her and it seems all her electives and straight As mean nothing.
