Gunner Lynston is a perfectly happy teenager. He lives in Chicago with his loving mother, his life is in the city. He's at the best school he can be at, starting quarterback on his high school football team, and has a solid B+ average. His life is in the city and he loves it. But that all changes. His mother passes away at night from an aneurism, all while Gunner was asleep. His life is drastically altered in one night. He is forced to move to his father's
ranch- all the way in Central Wyoming, with the same father whom he had been told was dead.

Gunner reluctantly moves, and turns a cold shoulder to Mark, his dad. He makes no effort to conceal his detestation towards the ranch, until the free spirited, absolutely gorgeous ranch hand Bailey Grayson shows up. She immediately becomes a huge part of Gunner's life; taking him on adventures and introducing him to the extraordinary world of the ranch.
