Taru is from the Southern Water Tribe and has no bending ability. On his Sixteenth birthday he realises that he can water bend. His mother and father tell him the he is the new avatar after Korra and he must journey to master all four elements with Mako, Asami and Bomju, his Giant Arctic Owl.
