Cato volunteers to protect a girl named Clove that he had a crush on since he was little. The hunger games tear at them and Cato refuses to let it take clove but all love stories come to an end.

Each year, a boy and girl between the ages of 12 and 18, are chosen at an annual reaping and then forced to appear on a televised competition until a lone victor remains.
