Matthew is a LNER Y14 from the LNER. He worked at the LNER until 1947, when the LNER closed. He was sold to a different railway until 1964. When the railway closed, all of the engines were scrapped, except Matthew, whom was sold to Sodor.
Matthew is a brave small tender engines. He is a mixed traffic engines, and is much experienced with passengers. He is very friendly and csaring.

Fallout Beyond Sodor
Thomas steals a goods train from James in order to go to the mainland and see the world. All in all, things seem fine at first with him meeting engines from the other railway. Marcus The Maniac || A TOSS STORY
Dear readers, There were many engines on The Fat Controller's railway who weren't written about by Wilbert Audrey. There are several different reasons as to why, from not wanting to be written about to Wilbert having too much on his plate already. (I personally blame the publishers for that last one.) However, one of these engines has finally spoken up about an event not many people look at... the time the NWR was without a shunter, before Percy arrived, and after Thomas left for the Farquhar Branch. The world of Sodor is a treasure trove of story opportunities. Whether it's the books or the show, the Thomas universe is never short on stories to be told. There is already plenty of fan content for Thomas and Friends. Most content tries to keep the lore of the Railway Series and sprinkle concepts from the TV series into the mix. I am no different, but I tried to make my take on this universe unique. This is something that has been in the works for the past few years. It has taken plenty of refinement, revision and lots of research. At long last, I've written something to be proud of.
