Set in the magnificent hills of Rathdowney on Queensland's southern boarder, this story begins when Cora Brantly, a single mother of twin boys returns home to introduce her sons to the people and the place she loves. Alone she settles in with no time to breath as she recovers from loosing cattle in a truck roll over, delivers a calf, fixes fences, breaks in young horses, and fits in family events.

A little way into the book she meets a tall and handsome man who she is with through out most of the read. They share the purchase of a new horse, a trip to visit friends in Miriam Vale, a wedding at a beach resort in Yeppoon.

All the while in the background though is Ben, the boys uncle. Her best friend and the boys hero.

This is a country read with no punches pulled when it comes to the honesty of living on the land and the characters that reside there, right down to a brawl at a dinner dance, the controversy of mixed families, alcohol problems and one sided love.

Harper was a single mother with a six year old son as her pride and joy. She owned her fathers old ranch as his last wish and lived an almost normal life. She had proven that she didn't need a man in her life after what had happened with her ex husband, but no matter what she did she couldn't seem to get away from his mistakes. She had known that he had had another child with someone else, but she had been unprepared for when that child's mother passed and how her ex was now getting out of county jail. She knew it wasn't her child, but the sibling of her only love Lucas. She was going to adopt that child and make a real home for her. Only she didn't know what a fight that would be. Caleb was an attorney from the big city of Detroit. He had been assigned to a case that brought him down to the sunny land of Georgia, with the heat and stetson hat fashion. Not knowing what all it would contain he was shocked to be faced with a fierce woman. Independent. A good head on her shoulders. Harper was all he could have ever wanted. He was struck with what he would have sworn to be lightning and wanted to know what made her tick under that gorgeously tanned skin. But they were from two different worlds. BEFORE YOU READ- DISCLAIMER! The main character is blunt, hates life and is very vulgar and hateful towards everyone and everything . However there is a reason for this. She is strong-headed and short-tempered, ill-mannered and disrespectful (though some may say in a loveable way). If this isn't for you, then I wouldn't suggest reading this book. It's about character development and personal growth. - Kody Lawrence is not normal. On the contrary, she's everything but. When the hot-headed, short-tempered, rude new girl arrives in the small town of Raven Hollow, Maine, most people are put off by her unexpected and -considering her horrible attitude and pessimism- unwanted appearance. However, despite her constant locked jaw, clenched fists and cold glare, Lilah Johansson, Kody's appointed 'buddy', can't help but want to be her new friend in spite of their not-so-impressive first impression. But Lilah is not to be sold separately, and with the friendly redhead comes four boys with charming smiles and welcoming arms that hide their own secrets and covered-up lies. Amongst the group of five, Dakota Black is the one who stands out with his calculating eyes and kind heart, and while Kody has no intention to stick around longer than a few months, he might just be the one to change that. With a duffel bag of money, a box-filled with different identities, a pocket full of problems and a closet stacked to the brim with secrets, Kody's quiet and peaceful Senior year takes a couple of unexpected turns. The only question is: Are they for better or for worse? ___ (Small disclaimer: The first few chapters aren't the greatest, but I took some time off from writing this book and came back to it when I'd gotten a bit better with writing, so if you can get past the rocky start, hopefully you won't regret it). ___ Re-published: 7.4.18 (7th of April) Finished: 9.3.20 (9th of March) Currently editing and correcting mistakes / plot holes. Samantha Munroe. Raised alongside her sister, Sidney, by their uncle, Sheriff Travis Munroe, since she was 8 years old. When the annual Forrest Valley dance comes around, Sam wants to ask her best friend, and man of her dreams, Kerry Bennett, but nervously drops the ball. In a twist of fate, the two both end up at the dance, only to find that someone has come to the dance with much more than romance on the mind, but murder. Will Sam be able to survive the night alongside the people she loves most? Will she fall victim to the cruel hand of fate? Who is the killer and why have they chosen this night out of all others? And what is the motive behind the murder in such a peaceful little town? (I originally wrote this on Quotev, it can be found there, too!)
