Set in the magnificent hills of Rathdowney on Queensland's southern boarder, this story begins when Cora Brantly, a single mother of twin boys returns home to introduce her sons to the people and the place she loves. Alone she settles in with no time to breath as she recovers from loosing cattle in a truck roll over, delivers a calf, fixes fences, breaks in young horses, and fits in family events. A little way into the book she meets a tall and handsome man who she is with through out most of the read. They share the purchase of a new horse, a trip to visit friends in Miriam Vale, a wedding at a beach resort in Yeppoon. All the while in the background though is Ben, the boys uncle. Her best friend and the boys hero. This is a country read with no punches pulled when it comes to the honesty of living on the land and the characters that reside there, right down to a brawl at a dinner dance, the controversy of mixed families, alcohol problems and one sided love.
