The following story, as strange as it might be, is a faithful and true recount of what happened in this city of smoke and dust in the late 1909. I myself as the writer bear witness of the following events, in fact this story happened to nobody else but me and as I will later explain, to the people who happen to cross path with me and the Immortal Bard. Many tried to record their encounter with the Minstrel in poetry and plays but I, a no writer as I am, simply intended to document this one event in my life and presented it as it is.

---

The Unhappy Man and the Immortal Bard is my experiment on writing a surrealistic novel. I have been wanting to write something surreal and absurd for a long time so I decided to actually try writing them.

There's no fixed date update as I have to write in between breaks and before sleep but I am trying my best to keep on updating.

Notes:
There is no explicit mature content in the story, but there are some sexual innuendo, discussion, and theme present in several chapters. The Immortal Bard is depicted as a person who does not conform to genders and the main character himself, though married, is not exactly straight. Although the story has a discussion on sexuality and genders, it remains a minor issue and is not the focus of the story.

I hope you enjoy reading this~!

"And yet, here we stand, half orc breed and Fae King, worlds apart..." **** On the Isle of Wrobel, where destinies are intricately spun by the threads of ancient magic, the Fae have been regaining their power. Alaric reigns as the formidable Fae King, steering his people towards a war against the orcs. In this anthology series, Nietzsche's Ubermensch comes to life. His hair is nappy, his nose is broad, and his complexion kissed by the sun. With a clap of her hands, she causes hurricanes. As her fingers snap, time slows. He can speak and create, and she can dream and destroy. The Superman is real, and they are an African. In this anthology series, we'll bear witness not to their epic exploits, but to the mundane melancholies of life in a world where Black kids can stop bullets, read minds, and fly. Welcome to the Afro-Future, today! Chapter 1: In "An Urban Legend Has It..." we meet Othello Richard Shannon, aka the super-speeding hero in a XXXL red hoodie, Dynamic! He didn't used to mind getting clowned in his civilian life since he has two A-One, Day-Ones that he can depend on to lift his spirits. But lately, this hero's been feeling like a third wheel. Chapter 2: In "The Stupendous Adventures of the Super Union" a team of superheroes gathers for the funeral of one of their own, Aspiration. Tensions run high as they discuss the impromptu sexual assault trial that led to Aspiration's death and the dismissal of one of their teammates. Chapter 3: In "Interrogation", young archivist Zaraz is asked to record and transcribe the interrogation of Regicide--the famous supervillain and archenemy of King Soul. The villain makes a lot of wild claims about King Soul's past, but surely they couldn't be true. Chapter 4: in "CRISIS of Faith" It wasn't easy for humanity to accept the existence of superhumans. But our narrator was lucky enough to be born in a time of peace between those with and those without powers. There are systems in place which help keep interactions running smoothly. That's the intention, at least.

"WHY CAN'T YOU GET IT INSIDE YOUR HEAD?" He trapped my trembling body between his arms and slammed his fist into the wall. I flinch at the sound as I feel tears forming in my eyes. "I'M SICK AND TIRED OF YOUR CRYING. JUST ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU'RE NEVER LEAVING. THIS IS YOUR LIFE NOW, WITH ME" He spits, anger consuming his voice as I push myself further against the wall. Shutting my eyes closed and turning my face to the side as I do. Moments later, I feel his rough hand on my waist and his finger grazing my cheek. "Look at me, love." His hand grips onto my jaw, his thumb playing across my lower lip. He turns my face to meet his as I lower my gaze to the floor. He lowers himself to my level and I feel his breath fanning my cheek causing my breathing to become unsteady. "I love you so much, darling. But you need to learn. You need to learn that you won't be going anywhere. You're mine." With that being said, his other hand slides down to my waist "Your entire body, your mind, your soul. All mine." If you had a choice of death or immortality, which would you pick? If you were wracked with grief, if you had loved ones and a peaceful afterlife waiting for you in the Realm of the Dead, if your divine father was an abusive monster who tried to manipulate and use you at every turn, if everything you'd ever valued seemed to rise up and mock you, could you make the ultimate sacrifice, and live? This story is technically the third in the Hilrean Rite trilogy, though it is the longest of the three. It spans several centuries, with the first chapter picking up the life of Raphael, who was heard of at the end of the story 'Descendants' as a newly married man, when he is sixty-eight years old. The story overlaps the temple of balance story and the Dragon Isle story completely, and also refers to the city of Firefort as it existed at the end of the life of Glivir. If readers are not familiar with my earlier stories the Seventh God, Descendants and Temple of Balance, the identity of the main protagonist and certain sections of the tale below might not make much sense. A brief section in brackets at the beginning of the first chapter will give some appropriate background detail. This can be skipped if you have read earlier tales. The story contains flirting, sexual references, swearing, cruelty, child abduction, an evil deity, assassination and references to extreme grief. note that the cover image does not belong to me
