Emerson Rose didn't have the easiest life, especially since her parent's recent divorce. She had a younger brother though, who she loved to death. Their mother wasn't the greatest role model, so having to take care of him, deal with school and having a job, it was a lot to handle. School hadn't been the easiest for her either. She kept her head held high, even though everyone knew she was getting picked on. She had been for most of junior high and now high school. Craving for a change, it felt like it was never going to come. But there was someone who was going to change her life. For better or for worse.

"Do you know how hard it is for me knowing that you're with someone else?" Tyler asked, staring at me intensely. "You think this is easy for me?" I asked, trying to hold back my tears. "I didn't say it was -" he began, but I cut him off. "It's not. I have to go around hating myself. Hating myself for thinking about you. Hating myself for wanting you. I just want to stop feeling this way." I stepped closer to him as my voice shook with every word. "I want to forget about you, but I just--." The rest of my sentence was cut short as Tyler took the final step, closing the gap between us and brought his lips to mine. ~~~~~~~~ Tyler is back from college to find out that the girl who once held his heart has a new boyfriend. They haven't been together for four years now, so why can't he convince himself that he's over her? Everything was going great, and she thought she was finally beginning to be happy again, but all that changed when Tyler moved back home. Her feelings that she thought she had buried resurfaced.
