Aethelwin is a Peaceweaver. Niece to the King of Northumbria, she is married at the age of 13 in order to strengthen support against Aelle, the would be usurper of King Osbert's throne. But guaranteeing the support of strangers who have their own agendas is no easy task. Aethelwin finds herself not only on the wrong side of the debilitating civil war, but at the mercy of a family and a village who blame her for their hardships. Then, just as she finds the means to change her fate, history intercedes. Ivarr the Boneless and his two brothers, Halfdan and Ubba, have laid claim to York. Aethelwin is flung into a world of chaos and panic as she fights against the Danes and even her own people, to bring her brother out of his stronghold in the north and restore her beloved Northumbria. But at what cost will she fight for a Kingdom in the final throws of death.

Ealyn Oswynsdóttir was once the daughter of a great Northern Viking warrior-until war and captivity shattered her world. Years later, scarred but unbroken, she escapes Kjartan's grasp with her child and finds refuge among kin. When fate leads her to cross paths with Finan, the fierce yet kind Irish warrior of Uhtred Ragnarsson's group of misfits, Ealyn is drawn into a larger fight-one not just for land, but for freedom, loyalty, and hope. Choosing to follow Uhtred to Coccham, Ealyn settles in the growing village with her children and sisters by her side, seeking peace while war brews beyond the river. But peace is fleeting. With Uhtred's enemies closing in, Ealyn must decide if the life she wants is one she's willing to defend with blood.
