Mary Lou Finney is less than excited about her assignment to keep a journal over summer. Boring! Then cousin Carl Ray comes to stay with her family, and what starts out as the dull dog days of summer quickly turns into the wildest-roller coaster ride of all time. How was Mary Lou supposed to know what would happen with Carl Ray and the ring? Or her boy-crazy best friend Beth Ann? Or with (sigh) the permanently pink Alex Cheevey? Suddenly a boring school project becomes a record of the most exciting, incredible, unbelievable summer of Mary Lou's life. But what if her teacher actually does read her journal?

Dallis Anderson has spent her entire life living in a small southern California town, doing exactly what has always been expected of her. She was class president, cheerleading captain, girlfriend of the town's golden boy, and headed off to the college of her parents' dreams. But ever since Dallis' twin brother left without even saying goodbye, she realizes that there has to be more to life than just doing what everyone else wants. Whenever Dallis learns a shocking secret that her family kept from her throughout her entire life, Dallis decides that it's time to figure out just who she really is. Now its time for her to leave everyone and everything behind as she tours half of the country with Crossing Lincoln, a high school band that her brother adored. But as the towns pass and the highways grow longer, Dallis realizes that nothing in her life has ever been the way it seemed and it may never be again. Especially with the guy she'd always hated suddenly making her feel things she'd never felt before, leaving her heart racing and aching for more. It's going to be one hell of a ride. COMPLETE!
