Sci fi short story that's been sitting on my hard drive for ages.

A coming of age story told about a boy who has to repeat 8th grade, gets afflicted with a case of boy-who-cried-wolf at the exact time bizarre and unspeakable things begin happening around his New Jersey town. The science fiction is similar to the conspiracy of The X Files. Horror and thriller wise it is has a lot of the same genetics as IT and Stranger Things. But the characters have real heart, they will make you laugh and care about them when they struggle..or are attacked by thousands of brown recluse spiders. The highest levels of government are trying to conceal the panic and erase the stories of survivors. Typical 8th grade stuff.

A steampunk-ish time travel tale.

This is a story about an alien invasion with a bit of a twist. The story itself is quite dark, exploring what happens to individuals when a society collapses.
