Of Scars and Starlight

Adielle has taken over the place as her family's provider at only sixteen. Her mother is afflicted with a horrid disease, growing weaker day by day, her father died in a horrific attack when she was only a child, and her only sibling, Erick, is too young to do any more than nurse their mother. They live in a seemingly abandoned cottage in the centre of what was once California. Every day, Adielle ventures from the safety of her house, risking her life to forage for food and supplies for her family. She has to be on careful lookout, however, for the Laeth- fearsome creatures as unpredictable as terror itself, and as terrible as a nightmare. What will happen when Adielle is separated from her family? Will she survive? Will they? And what will become of their world?
