The large window, holding all the unreachable stars and galaxies and places and people, reflected the harsh outline of two people captured in a sliver of escaping light. Outside, a man cleaned a pool of blood as two others carried the heavy, unconscious body of an enemy to safety. In another room, more argued and yelled about the alien- the insanity of it all! A few silently watched, deep in thought. How had humanity come to this?
But she wasn't human. Her skin glittered, her eyes held an odd sheen, and a sort of aura hung heavy in the air surrounding her. From a distance she was exotic; up close she was otherworldly. Come from the stars and the soil, she was the key.

"Yes, however, this mission did not require your presence nor your opinion," he replies candidly. My eye twitches and wordlessly, I turn away once more but his grip on my arm returns, this time more gentle, as if pleading rather than restraining. "I only meant that this mission did not require you to accompany me as my OA in pretence. It's safer to stay with your younglings out of sight anytime the role is not needed," his voice softer. "You disappeared after you..." I pause and shake my head. I feel embarrassed to say it out loud to him. I feel embarrassed at how much it affected me.
