As the Ulster Plantation begins, political tensions rise between the Crown and the Irish rebels, but the real battle is fought in the shadows-where alliances are forged, secrets are buried, and hearts burn with forbidden passion. Lanecea, a woman of Clan Davidson with ties to the Scottish Highlands, navigates a treacherous web of power, loyalty, and love. To protect her family and her many lovers, she publicly aligns with the Crown, but privately, she is a pagan priestess with a destiny that could change Ireland's future. Her secret husband, Seamus, a blacksmith widower, and her Highland spies, including the powerful Boyd merchants, feed her critical information, reporting to her under the cover of night. Meanwhile, Ellis, once believed to be a devout Catholic and now a priestess in Lanecea's oak grove, watches from the shadows-her life forever altered by Lanecea's hand. As Storm, the enigmatic leader of the Irish rebellion prepares for war, Lanecea must walk a razor's edge between betrayal and devotion, all while keeping her clandestine relationships hidden from those who would destroy her. With love, power, and survival on the line, Echoes of a Rebel Heart tells the tale of a woman who defies the rules of her time to forge her own path - one that could spark a rebellion or seal her fate. Her best friends, her brother, her own daughter, missing without so much as a trail. No one left to help her, console her, tell her everything will be okay. Within the span of five months, Evelyn has managed to rise back to her feet, but she's dropped her old life. Temporarily. Changing her hair style, and name, she's confided in people eligible to help her. But per usual, she's ultimately bound to making enemies. After getting into a situation she can't seem to get herself out of, she is forced to stay in the same house as someone she hates as much as he hates her. But as time drags on, the line between love and hate seems to blur. Forcing herself to focus on her main objective, she attempts to limit as much time with him as possible. It must have been a goddess. That he was sure of. In the middle of those dark ashes, a body was laid down, wrapped in a cape that must have been green before but which was now covered in brown because of the ashes. Her face was strikingly pale, of a rare whiteness, but it was also dirtied by the ashes, hiding her cheeks and forehead. But despite those ashes and these dark smudges, one thing was absolutely certain: she was divine. She had a beautiful face with a straight, small nose, lips that were plump even if they were dry and a bit blue from the cold. Her eyes were closed, but her lashes seemed to be long and thick, resting on her cheeks like she was sleeping peacefuly. But all of those traits were not what attracted the Jarl. What did was the streak of hair that rested on her forehead, which had leaked from her hood. Its color was so unique and uncommon for a girl from this country that Tharn remained fixated on it. It was impossible to decide if this girl was a red-head or a blond. It seemed like the gods had not been able to chose in-between those two hair colors and had to give her the tone in between those two: gold. What a waste for such a heavenly creature to be dead, Tharn thought. Well, was he sure she was dead? After kneeling down, he bent over her, placing his fingers on her throat to check if her heart was still beating and placing his cheek in front of her mouth to see if he could feel a breath against his skin. As faint as it was, a light breeze touched him and a slow beat came under his fingers. She was barely alive, but she still was. A sigh of relief escaped him without him controlling it. He had no idea why he was so glad she was alive, but he was sure of one thing : she was coming back with him, and she would be his.
