The play starts with Robin re-reading their suicide note and then leaving their home to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. They run into Ezra and Hazel, two people from school's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) but quickly run off in fear. After they attempt suicide, Ezra jumps off the bridge after them while Hazel calls 911. The next scene takes place in the hospital, where Ezra and Robin are injured.
