Magnus Bane was thirty-three, the world's first trillionaire, a man who had built an empire so vast it seemed to stretch across continents. He owned villas perched on cliffs, sprawling estates, penthouses with views of entire cities, fleets of cars and yachts, art collections, and companies whose influence dictated markets. He was brilliant, sharp-minded, and dangerously intelligent dominant by nature, short-tempered when tested, yet always fair in his own ruthless way. Handsome and magnetic, his body looked as though it had been carved by gods themselves. Magnus lived as men of his stature often did he indulged his appetites. Models, actresses, heiresses, socialites his bed was rarely cold. But for all his ruthlessness, he was not unkind. With the world he was merciless, yet with his family retired and peaceful in their Boston estate he remained a dutiful son. Discipline ruled his life. Each morning at precisely eight, he left his mansion flanked by bodyguards to command the empire he had built, Bane Enterprises. Alexander Lightwood was twenty-seven when he joined Bane Enterprises, a man brilliant in mind and beautiful in form.
