"Then someday I'm gonna defeat you!" Those were the last words spoken by Shoyo Hinata to his newly formed nemesis; Tobio Kageyama. The reason they were his last words? Because the following year Kageyama was successfully enrolled at Shiratorizawa, making himself a valuable member of the Shiratorizawa Volleyball team in the process, while Hinata went on to join Karasuno's Volleyball team.
A story where Tobio Kageyama never joined Karasuno, leading him to never rekindling and forming an unbreakable bond with the cheerful ginger Shoyo Hinata. But fate has a way of intervening, and perhaps, despite all odds, Kageyama and Hinata still manage to grow feelings for eachother regardless of their distance.

Go watch Haikyu, it's really nice. Anyway, this is not connected to the original Haikyu, although the junior high part is. Anything that happens in this book is in their first year, and it will not necessarily be the same as what happened in the anime and manga. So, it's about how the relationship between Hinata and Kageyama slowly built and how they got passed their obstacles as they went for competition and tournaments.
