When Jake, a new student, arrives at Brookdale High, she fears he'll be just another bully. But instead of ridicule, Jake offers comfort, and Rachael begins to believe that maybe, just maybe, love is possible.
With newfound courage, Rachael decides to stand up to her bullies and speak out about the torment she's endured. To her surprise, one of her tormentors, Sam, apologizes and urges others to stop. As she gains new friends-and possibly a love interest or two-Rachael's world starts to change.
