Lacey is a city girl at heart. She enjoys watching Netflix, playing video games, and drawing- activities her mother doesn't find 'lady-like'.
Her mom is controlling, strong willed, and narrow minded. She wants Lacey to be the perfect, polite, inquisitive country girl. The stereotypical farm girl that owns a horse, some cows, and other various farm animals. The thing is, Lacey isn't an animal person.
That is all soon to change when she meets Freckles, a flea-bitten gray mare with a temper. The two butt heads in the beginning, neither wanting to be with each other. But with a new school and tormenting school bullies, depression drives her to take the mare and run back to the city to find her friend Colten, who had been with her through everything.
Will the fiery mare and moody teenage girl finally put their past behind them and learn to love, or will they go beyond their limits?
Ella is falling apart trying to live a "perfect" high school life. Then she meets Ren, who can see past her scars. Suddenly perfection isn't her only option.
