Deana Blake, a child raised without the affections of her father and the knowledge that her mother ran away with a pirate only to be hung like one soon after. Fighting to stay alive as her father sailed on a merchant ship, Deana learned many skills to get food or money even if it was pick-pocketing. She kept an old rum bottle to store what she could save and vowed to become the best sailor in the ocean to prove to her father and everyone else that her gender wasn't what was holding her back.

Deana Blake, a woman serving as a cook aboard the ship Petrel, is not really getting anywhere closer to her dreams of being a well-known captain. Her skills in the kitchen are extraordinary, but her skills with a knife were just as known to anyone who dared enter her galley. She bribed her way onto the boat while manipulating the Captain to keep her aboard. Deana wouldn't do anything she didn't have to, and she wanted to earn the right to be a captain rather than take it, so that was how she spent years cooking for an ever-changing crew on the Petrel until the ship was attacked and sent to her watery grave.

At least it used to be before she disappeared for a decade. Her mother being a fallen Pirate Lord, her father being a fallen Commodore left her an orphan at the age of 17. That didn't slow her down. She made a name for herself in her ruthlessness, saving no mercy for any gender or rank. Along her life she got herself into a spat with Davy Jones on the seas, interfering with souls he was trying to collect by force. She said it was an imbalance to the natural order but he in turn nearly killed her..Tia Dorma nursed her back to health when she found Jessica washed up on the shores of her island. Her entire crew had been killed and she was left barely alive. So Tia Dorma decided to held her in exchange for her beating heart. Jessica didn't understand at the time, and claimed she had no use for it so she could happily take it. Everyone she ever cared about was dead anyways so what did she need it for? However, Tia said there was much about a human heart that she had yet to lean and she would only give the heart back once it heals and Jessica could "properly utilize it" whatever the hell that meant.. Until then Tia would put a spell on Jessica. She couldn't die until something in Jessica stirred that cold heart of hers..read to see more! (Story was made in 2010 so I'll probably be editing as I post chapters!)
