Lucy is the Princess of Fiore, being in a rich successful family many kings wanted to buy her. Her father, Jude, was all about money so he put up an auction. That's when a mysterious man in a robe came along.
Natsu Dragneel, the king of Dragon's was looking for a bride. Not many people wanted to marry him as his kingdom was a dangerous place, but he was very very rich. Which was exactly what Jude wanted.
