For hundreds of years Earth has been a wasteland, radiation lingering after humanities fatal mistakes. The outside world has become uninhabitable, vicious creatures roaming the earth, sending the few surviving humans into the earth. A safe haven, the city of Invernes, stowed deep within the system of a cave, has harbored the remnants of humanity for decades. But when a curious girl decides to push the limits of the law, visiting the barrier between Invernes and the outside world, she discovers the truth about what lies beyond, shattering the world she once knew.

I walk into the ramshackle of a terminal, abandoned and abused for years, monitors lining the walls, no longer displaying the once crucial information. This is the closest I'd ever been, to the barrier, to the outside world. Cautiously making my way through the building I begin to see it, sunlight. For the first time in my life I feel fear, excitement, curiosity, and joy all at once, my heart fluttering rapidly as I approach the large, shattered window. The barrier, once electrified wires running through the thick material, that of which I don't know. Shielding my eyes I scan the massive structure, my eyes slowly drifting top to bottom, but what I witness at the barrier's base sends my heart crashing through the ground.

She....I....... I was running through the thick branches, pushing the leaves out of my way with all my might. I had to get away. The wet, brown, ground made it easier for me to slip and let her red, chilling hands slip around my innocent, scarred body, not knowing where she would take me next. I was almost out of breath, but I had to keep running if I wanted to make it out of this forest alive. My red dress was getting torn to shreds, and my hands and feet had mud all over them. My long, bushy brown hair was getting hooked on every possible branch, making me push my hair in the back of my dress, just like I used to when I was forced to cook everyday for my loathsome 'parents'. Returning back to the real world, I had to stop otherwise I would black out. I took a few seconds to catch my breath silently, and to look around to see if she was there behind me. I was looking up at the tall, old tree when I heard a twig snap behind me. Just like in the horror films. I turned and ran in the same direction, not daring to look back and see her wretched face fixed on my body. I sprinted and sprinted, but slowed down when I saw I was heading to nowhere but a ragged cliff. The unknown would me known if I continued to run and jump. I stopped two metres away from the cliff and looked down to see a valley so far down. If I jump..... I die. If I let her take me..... the unfair horribleness awaits me. I had no choice. They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. They tugged and poked and even shoved their disgusting finger in your wound, just to see you cry. To see you change. No pitty in their eyes. They just continue. They drag you around with metal chains, hit you and turn you into a experiment. But I had enough of the tugging, the clawing, the moaning, the crying and pleading for them to stop, but simply feeding them with our pain.
