N'ayant que 17 ans et étant une fille, les hommes du sous-marins ont rapidement fait accepté de garder son petit secret à quelques conditions. Pourtant, la curiosité et la peur finirent par convaincre Zella et elle fit face aux yeux horrifiés de son père. Il la prit donc comme assistante, ayant peur pour sa petite fille, étant donné la brutalité des autres hommes à bord.
