In a city of light and hope, how could there ever be darkness? How could something so good, be so corrupted? The rules were supposed to be there to keep people safe, right? But what existed below level one of the city of Surmise? Secrets, ones that the government wanted to keep hidden, lay below that level. One day, when an innocent girl discovers one of these secrets, she plummets below the forbidden level and finds a broken world underneath a false one.

But she can't survive down there alone. With the help of the city's most infamous criminal, she has to learn the new way of life below the city. Especially when she discovers a weapon that had been banned from the city long ago. And that this seemingly small thing, could change her world she knows all together.
