Pain shoots across my stomach. I look down and see blood spill out. I grasp my stomach. Sebastian still stands over the man with the eye patch.

"Um Sebastian," I squeak.

I start to fall, but he catches me before I hit the ground. He sets me down gently and takes off his jacket pressing the cloth to my abdomen.

"You're going to be fine," he says picking me up, and he starts speed walking the direction we were heading.

I hear him say something, but I don't know what. Everything is getting dim, and my ears seem like they're underwater because everything sounds muffled. The world gets darker and darker until it finally goes black.

This civilization became the heaven for people seeking a stable and peaceful life. The Earth rose and seas parted ways, and the environment had totally changed for its adaptability. Unfortunately, the inhabitants of this great technological civilization are all but manaless, arriving in a world where they are seen as inferior and as slaves. How will they react of finding themselves in a world where people can split mountains or bend the fabric of space, and where beings exist that even conventional weapons cannot defeat? How will they survive against deadly monsters, magical beasts, and superhumans that could threaten entire nations? And how will the other powers that exist in this world react to a powerful, advanced nation filled with a race they deem inferior? In a world where humans are considered nothing more than commodities-bought, sold, and studied like exotic livestock-Vareshian university student Lorian Thorne receives a young 6 inch human as part of a groundbreaking class experiment. Unlike the older, scarred, and vacant humans distributed to his peers, Lorian's human is barely more than a child, wide-eyed and trembling in the corner of his cage. Lorian has always understood humans the way his parents taught him: resources, tools, valuable for their rarity but not worth empathy or consideration. Yet as he observes his human's fragile existence and begins to interact with him, Lorian starts questioning everything he's been told. The boy's small, defiant attempts at connection force Lorian to confront not only the morality of his own actions, but the brutal reality of the society he lives in. As the class progresses, Lorian must navigate the expectations of his Vareshian peers, his parents' ingrained beliefs, and his growing sense of responsibility toward the life in his care. What starts as a sterile academic exercise becomes a journey of unexpected connection, forcing Lorian to face the uncomfortable truths about his world, his family, and ultimately, himself.
