She was born in Fork Washington, and grew up with Jessica, Angela, and the others. When the Cullens arrived, she knew that there was something off about them, but didn't pry. It was law that any supernatural creature must have permission to tell outsiders of their existence, and so she keeps quiet, not wanting her own secret to come out to the natives of Fork Washington. The Cullens were settling down with and was somewhat fitting in when the new girl Isabella Swan makes their lives harder and Mia miserable.
