Power. Everyone wants it. Especially Sheelah Collins. And when she finally gets it, it's quite difficult to hang on to. So she creates the Placation, a serum to placate those who doubt her. But, as it always comes, a rebellion rises in her town of Black Hollow, and scientists create an opposition for the Placation - the Charm, a necklace with the immunizer inside. However, it is lost before copies can be made. After generations and generations of suffering, the Charm lands in the hands of Crystal Summers, who unknowingly takes the job of saving Black Hollow.
