The first world war saw the beginning of aerial combat take place, for the first half of the war, German Zeppelins owned the sky and rained terror over England. As bullets failed to destroy them, Zeppelins bombed innocent civilians for months, undeterred by any defensive measures. This short story follows the actions of one brave pilot who broke the rain of terror, winning the Victoria Cross and inspiring thousands of new pilots to join the fight.

We Were There: Emmeline's Story

54 parts Complete

I was one of five women chosen to serve our country, fighting side by side with the men, and only some of us had come home. Being surrounded by friends and enemies, having to choose who you can save, who you can love, and how to survive is something they couldn't have prepared us for. My name is Emmeline Banks, and I served in WWII in the Airborne. This is my story.
