“You don’t think I’ll do it?” I asked as I smirked at her.
“Obviously not,” she snorted. “You’re too,” she made a motion at me, “you.”
“Watch and learn,” I winked.
I strode over to where he was with his group friends and I suddenly got a gut wrenching feeling in my stomach. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. I turned around to face her, but as I saw her smirking in success, I straightened my back more confidently and walked right up to him.
He slowly turned to face me. “Can I help you?”
Plastering on a fake smile, I answered, “Hi. I’m-,” my breath caught in my throat as I locked eyes with him. I felt my heart pick up and it felt like we were the only ones standing there. My smile slowly faded from my face as we stayed looking at each other; his green eyes suddenly darkening. A movement over his shoulder reminded me why I was here. I sent him a smile. “Hi. I’m Elly and I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me,” I tried again, attempting not to look in his eyes again.
I had a feeling he was going to say yes. With the way he looked at me, he just has to say yes. I was barely able to hold back my smile as I stared at him waiting for his answer. Holding my breath, I waited for his answer.
He laughed smirking at me. “Is this some kind of joke?”
The breath felt like it had been knocked out of me. My shoulders fell a few inches in disappointment and I felt my heart break while it plummeted to the bottom of my stomach. I had been so sure. Whoever said love at first sight isn’t real, lied.
