Every year ten packs in the district come together with their Alpha, Beta, and their Echanters; for the Mate Choosing Ceremony. You have three years to be chosen, when you are eighteen you attend the first ceremony, and at twenty one, you attend the last. If you have not been chosen, you will be mateless, unless you are an Alpha or Beta.

Once a pack member finds their mate, they will be marked with a symbol from the enchanter. Each pair of mates will have the same mark as their partner, but different from all of the other pairs.
The symbol is a tie beyond the two, it resembles the mate bond.

Olive Knight was the Beta female, standing in her fathers position, after his death.

She is independent, fierce, and sarcastic. For two years she has attended the ceremony, and for two years she hasn't been chosen. This year is her last chance. She doesn't really want a mate, so she's praying no one will pick her.

Kaden Pearce is the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. He is strong, powerful, and merciless. For seven years he's attended the ceremony, for a year he's watched Olive.
