"Almost is the saddest word in the English language. Almost made it. Not quite. She almost had a normal day, almost made it to the tree safely, almost, almost, almost. She had made it so close to that tree, so close she could have reached out and touched it with one more step, when she fell. This wasn't like her last fall. Her eyes closed, not a single giggle escaped her lips. Slowly she faded away, every last bit of her essence gone, totally gone to the world. Nothing would ever be the same. "

This is a Short Story I wrote for this year's Speech Season. I enjoyed writing it because it plays with hidden meanings and metaphors. I hope you enjoy reading it!
