"The shackles that bind me aren't very tight. Not like everyone else. I have freedom to move, to speak, to live. After a while, I don't notice them that much. But, like your deepest, darkest fears, they are always there."

Bel is constantly living in fear. Her father left her as a kid, her mother shortly after. What others do not know is that Bel's parents, while they were still in her life, malnourished and mistreated her, to the point where Bel went into a coma due to not eating for many days. Having to fend for herself, Bel undergoes many struggles, yearning for the day when she will turn 18 and finally get to leave behind her old life.

But she can't go on like this forever. As Bel's once peaceful small town turns to violence, every day is a fight to stay alive. She will need to put all of her faith in her friends, even though some of them aren't who they first seemed to be.
