Namatay ang kaniyang ama habang nasa kritikal na sitwasyon naman ang kaniyang Ina. Ang masaganang buhay na kinagisnan niya ay bigla na lamang unti unting nag laho na parang bula.
Ibinenta nila ang kanilang bahay, ikinansela ang iba't ibang uri ng insurance plans at lumipat sa isang simpleng apartment. At makalipas ang ilang taon, apat hanggang anim na oras ang iginugugol ni Art sa pagaalaga ng kaniyang ina at nagta-trabaho pa para mabayaran ang medical bills nito.
Isang araw, inirekomenda siya ng isa sa kanyang mga instructor para magtrabaho sa kumpaniyang tinatawag na Connexius International, na gumawa ng isang anunsyo ng paggawa ng kasaysayan dahil sa kanilang pinakabagong imbensyon sa larangan ng teknolohiya.
