Ngunit nagbago ang takbo ng buhay niya nang dahil sa isang tawag mula sa pulisya, sinasabing na-aksidente ang kaniyang mga magulang. Namatay ang kaniyang ama habang nasa kritikal na sitwasyon naman ang kaniyang Ina. Ang masaganang buhay na kinagisnan niya ay bigla na lamang unti unting nag laho na parang bula.
Ibinenta nila ang kanilang bahay, ikinansela ang iba't ibang uri ng insurance plans at lumipat sa isang simpleng apartment. At makalipas ang ilang taon, apat hanggang anim na oras ang iginugugol ni Art sa pagaalaga ng kaniyang ina at nagta-trabaho pa para mabayaran ang medical bills nito.
Isang araw, inirekomenda siya ng isa sa kanyang mga instructor para magtrabaho sa kumpaniyang tinatawag na Connexius International, na gumawa ng isang anunsyo ng paggawa ng kasaysayan dahil sa kanilang pinakabagong imbensyon sa larangan ng teknolohiya. Sinusundan ng kwentong ito si Art sa kanyang paglalakbay upang umangkop sa isang bagong pag-unlad ng isang Virtual Reality game.

Being constantly compared to ones brother can make one feel neglected. This is the case for Kai Walker. His brother was the star of the schools soccer team as well as the star of the basketball team.
