Cynthia is geboren in een wereld waar demografische fase 5 overal ter wereld al een lange tijd op gang is. Als resultaat daalt de populatie van de mens snel. Om dit te stoppen, besloten de wereldleiders om het Pair System te starten dat je forceert om minstens twee kinderen te hebben met je partner, gekozen op vlak van DNA compatibiliteit. Dit leidde tot de wet die het verbied om kinderen te hebben of intiem te zijn op welke manier dan ook met iemand die niet je partner is.
En dan wordt Cynthia verliefd op iemand anders... En vernietigd ze haar eigen lichaam om bij hem te kunnen blijven.
Dit is een psychologische romance-drama en zal het hebben over thema's als intimiteit, zelfverwonding (niet door te snijden) en zware psychologische problemen. Als je zulke dingen niet kan of wil lezen, je bent gewaarschuwd.
