1. Easily broken, shattered, or damaged; delicate, brittle, frail.
2. Vulnerably delicate, as in appearance
"What is wrong with you?" I spit.
"What are you talking about?" he looks over his shoulder at me.
"I mean, why are you being such an arse towards me?" my voice raises. He smirks, almost evilly as he takes a sip of the peculiar liquid.
"You're my servant, Charlie." he says. "Don't forget that."
"I thought you treated me differently." I say and my voice cracks, betraying me.
"That's because I thought you were so fragile. So innocent. But I was wrong. You're much stronger than I thought you were."
"I can't wait to get away from here. Away from you. As soon as I pay off my debt." I say and he laughs, a low, degrading sound. He walks towards me, thumb gently massaging over the skin of my cheek.
"Oh, Charlie," he says. "When are you going to learn that you are never getting away from me?"
Set in modernized 1920's during what is called the Second Great Depression. Charlotte Johnston, a twenty year old from England is more than ready to escape a life of poverty and is shipped off to America in search for a new and better life. But with the desire for freedom, there is a great cost to pay. She must work for one of the richest men in all of America, twenty-one year old Mr. Harold E Styles. He confuses the heck out of her with his constant mood swings and undeniable jealousy, but he continues to remind her that she's nothing but a servant. Working for one of the richest men in exchange for freedom proves to be harder and harder with each passing second. Harold thinks she's too Fragile to make it to the end, but will it really be he who is the Fragile one? With his hidden and troubled past, Charlie slowly finds out that there's more to the man inside the tux.
