☼ based on a true story ☼

Have you ever wondered why people smile?

Étienne always wondered why there was constantly one on his best friend's face.

It intrigued him. In fact she intrigued him in general.

She wasn't your regular Californian teenager, though neither was he.

Sophie was as unique as they come.
Her hair was a frizzy nest of curls and her lips formed a make-shift grin. No matter what, even if you knew she was mad, she still had a smile printed across her face.

As the summer goes by, Sophie begins to tell him why, bit by bit.

Will Étienne fall in love with Sophie, or will her reasons make him leave?

☼ Caution: This is not a 'Happily Ever After' type of story ☼
