The youngest of twelve royal children, Prince Toma is his mother's joy. She is the powerful and jealous Queen of Mornya, who has kept him, her most prized possession, close and sheltered. He's ill-prepared for life outside the castle. When he gets stranded on the road in a storm, he has no idea what to do. Emil has been on his own since he was a child, He doesn't need anyone and no one needs him. He lies, he cheats, he steals, and when he finds a young fop with nowhere to go, he sees an opportunity to make some money. Surely whoever the brat belongs to will hand out a handsome reward to see him again. It's not technically a ransom if he didn't do the kidnapping, right? The only trouble is, the more he watches the Mornya's Rose come into bloom, the more he wants to keep him for himself.
