Love, Lies and Betrayal
As the name goes, this story has lots of love, a pinch of lies and perhaps betrayal. Leading from the story of a common country girl to her life in high school and eventually college but along the way life turns a lot for young Alexis Rogers as she is confronted with her would-have-been present that causes her, her family, her love and even her identity. Heartbreak is way too much for her and a loss she cannot adjust to so she grabs the first opportunity she gets to freedom from this hell home to overcome it and maybe have a better life with what she was destined to have. The only thing that keeps him going is his excitement for a school camping trip that is coming up with his best friend Edward. After a little mishap while hiking down from their camp site, Anthony and his major crush fall down the side of the mountain and get stuck, then get chased by a gun-wielding maniac into a cave. After what seems like days, they make it out of the cave alive, only to find out that they have ended up in a new world: a world where nothing makes sense. There are giants and leprechauns and shapeshifters...but there is also a great darkness that is out to destroy everyone-and everything-that it sees. Young Anthony finds out that it is up to him and Emma to save this new world with great powers that he had no idea he had, and make it home before anybody suspects a thing. Told from a first-person point-of-view, it goes into detail about the thought processes of a young man who has everything to lose. The protagonist deals with real life struggles every day, including the death of his friend, his dad who left him at an early age, and the pain of seeing his little sister being hurt by her boyfriend. He also has to take charge and become a hero for those who can't against an unwavering bully in a far-away world. My book blends fiction with reality, as the reader follows along in the life of a shy high school student who gets thrown into many situations he must overcome as he finds out who he truly is and why it is him who needs to save the world, while keeping the reader guessing every step of the way.Complete
