Nineteen year old Jamie Davidson has lived in London since she was fourteen, and lives a pretty crap life, putting up with bullies, school, and her habit of self-harm. She has no friends besides her books and little sister, and likes it that way. Then, on her first day of work, she is unexpectedly reunited with her childhood friend, Dan Howell.
After being betrayed by him, their friendship was ruined, and Jamie never wanted anything to do with him ever again, but Dan wants to start over, no matter how hard it may be whilst juggling his ever-growing YouTube channel “danisnotonfire”, his radio show and things going on at home with his flat-mate, Phil. She reluctantly agrees to try and rebuild the friendship, but struggles with the thought he’ll leave her again.
Deep down, she misses him, but knows it wasn’t in a friend way, and knows he would never feel the same way, so she tries to stay as far away from Dan as possible; avoiding anything that would spark that old feeling again. Slowly, Dan and Jamie begin to get back what they once had.
As Claire aims to leave her oppressive stepfamily behind, she befriends Zion. Will he be her ticket to freedom or a distraction in achieving her dreams?
