Thirty bases were constructed and protected. Only one survived the nuclear bombs that rained on the earth. The year is 2442. John, who is only a teenager enlisted in the army to protect Base 29. He is different from everyone else. He doesn't have a left leg for that matter and he doesn't have too many friends but when his base gets raided he knows he's gonna give the machines everything he's got. Including his life.

When it came they hadn't anticipated the extent of solar power. Their power sources were ruined and they knew that they wouldn't survive long without them. Some people left to take their chances in the new wild but those who were left spent hours pondering solutions as the power dwindled and the life-force faded. Only when the people who were left out to face the sun found the bases did they find a solution. The outsiders were deranged and barely human, changed by the radiation of the sun, they were taken into the bases and were sedated and hooked up to the power source.
